I just want to start out with an apology to Admiral Koehler for not being able to make the call on what @breitling he’s rockin’ in this photo. Sorry about that, Sir. Just a pro tip… maybe next time turn your wrist ever so slightly and Dr. DTG will get it featured! The good news is the @iwcwatches Top Gun 50th Anniversary watch (Ref. IW387813) is prominently displayed on Vice Admiral Marc “Stem” Miguez’s wrist. Vice Admiral Miguez, or Stem, is the @usnavy 3rd Fleet Commander. Now, I know people that know people. I asked around a bit and collected a fair amount of intel on Stem. All reports were glowing – he’s the real deal! He was an F-14 Tomcat Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) like Goose (may he RIP), and went to TOPGUN in 2000. Stem then went on to become a F-14 Tomcat and F-18 Hornet backseat strike tactics instructor. Bottomline, he’s a very interesting and awesome dude from what I hear. Fun fact: in his younger, pre-TOPGUN Instructor/Commanding Admiral days, he was an enlisted Force Recon @marines. In fact, one of my former Marine Raider buddies remembers talking to Stem about a decade-and-half ago when he was first considering going through Assessment & Selection for Force Recon. That talk clearly went well. So cool! Dr. DTG featured this watch back on October 3, 2025, where it was being worn by the F-18 Super Hornet pilot that goes by callsign [REDACTED]. You probably recall, but I would not confirm nor deny callsign [REDACTED] participated in the filming of the major motion picture @topgunmovie Maverick. As far as the rad IWC goes, according to IWC’s Online Journal, the “PILOT’S WATCH CHRONOGRAPH EDITION “TOP GUN 50TH ANNIVERSARY” (REF. IW387813) chronograph was developed with the TOPGUN instructors based in Naval Air Station Fallon... [and] features the Navy Fighter Weapons School logo at 9 o’clock, as well as an individual engraving of each owner’s name and class on the case back.” As the proud son of a retired SGM, Dr. DTG loves encountering senior officers with prior enlisted experience.
