Long before retired @usarmy General Stanley “Big Stan” McChrystal’s daily tool of choice became an @apple watch (bless his heart), he was routinely photographed wearing a mysterious gold watch with a white dial. It looked to be some type of field watch model variant, but that’s about all I had to go on. Using all-source analyses and my seasoned “FIND, FIX, FINISH, EXPLOIT, and ANALYZE” skillset, I pieced together disparate crumbs of open-source information regarding this mystery watch. Based on those analyses, I assess with high confidence Big Stan’s confounding gold watch most certainly is a quartz movement @llbean @hamiltonwatch gold-tone military-style field watch! For about a decade – from the early 80s to the early 90s – L.L. Bean and Hamilton produced co-branded military-style field watches with automatic, mechanical, and quartz movements. In @socom_archive and Dr. DTG’s opinion, this is the perfect tool for Big Stan given the undeniable and undisputed personal and professional traits he demonstrates 7/24/365 in life and leadership: accountability, discipline, drive, grit, honesty, humility, intellect, principle, reconciliation, resilience, and self-awareness. That’s one hell of a list! There’s also the possibility it’s a sentimental timepiece, which would obviously make it priceless to Big Stan! I mention this possibility because it most certainly strikes a chord of sentiment from my foxhole. See, the Household 6 (HH6) hails from Maine where L.L. Bean was founded and its center of gravity remains headquartered today. And, Dr. DTG’s initial entry into the “pricey” watch world was none other than a mechanical Hamilton Khaki Field Watch the HH6 surprised me with as a gift some years back.
