Pictured here is General Christopher “CD” Donahue rockin’ a @suunto Core back in his 3-star days just before taking command of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and NATO’s Allied Land Command. I don’t know CD personally, but I briefed him once or twice back when he was the Deputy Director for Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism (J-37) on the Joint Staff. He’s the real deal! General Donahue has commanded forces at every echelon, traversing elite conventional airborne units and highly classified special operations organizations. Throughout his career, CD has deployed more than 20 times where he executed and planned conventional and classified operations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southwest Asia, and Africa (Operations Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Iraqi Freedom (Iraq), New Dawn (Iraq), Inherent Resolve (Iraq/Syria), Freedom’s Sentinel (Afghanistan); and The Sudan Crisis Evacuation Operations). On top of all that, he’s a West Point grad, earned a master’s degree from the Naval War College, and completed a prestigious U.S. Army War College Fellowship at Harvard University. This long-standing Army War College Fellowship at Harvard was sacked earlier this year. In a 6 FEB 2026 post on X, the Secretary of Defense announced the Department would divest of all professional military education, fellowships, and certificate programs with Harvard University, citing “Harvard is woke; The [Defense] Department is not.” So, essentially, CD is Rambo with a @mensainternational.official-level IQ… and he’s the latest senior military leader to abruptly vacate their position.
