#blackhistorymonth shoutout to Carl Maxie Brashear who was always PRESENT & READY! Master Diver Brashear was a #baller, #shotcaller, and the OG #beastmode. The @oris Carl Brashear Cal 401 Limited Edition Diver 65 in Bronze is a tribute timepiece limited to 2,000 pieces. It came with an @erikasoriginals Marine Nationale (MN) strap (shown here on a MN by Erika Originals custom made for Dr. DTG). Some of y’all grey beards like myself may recall the movie Men of Honor with Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Robert De Niro bringing Carl Brashear’s story to the big screen over two decades ago. Carl Brashear was the first African American Navy Master Diver and the first to be an amputee (you read that right). What he accomplished and overcame in life is nothing short of EPIC! A direct quote from Carl Brashear is engraved on the back of all 2,000 watches: “It’s not a sin to get knocked down. It’s a sin to stay down.” Now that’s a mantra we should all fall in-line with! Pretty rad Oris and Erika Originals teamed up on this amazing tribute tool! The historical Carl Brashear photos used here are sourced to the National Museum of the U.S. Navy: https://www.history.navy.mil/content/history/museums/nmusn/explore/photography/personnel-us/personnel-us-b/brashear-carl-m-master-chief-boatswains-mate.html #usnavy
