This lean mean fighting machine is an old teammate of mine, and quite honestly one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He’s pictured here in Central Baghdad circa 2004-2005 holding a highly-modified custom M4 variant in his right hand (with sound trigger discipline I might add) and rocking what is either a @casiowatches_official G-Shock DW6600 or Pre-Core @suunto Navitec on his left wrist (he alternated between these two tools during that time). In his back pasture are the Swords of Qādisīyah which are affectionately referred to as the Hands of Victory. I asked my man what he’s doing in this photo, and he said “getting a picture for family.” I will be the first to tell you his outfit would be considered irregular even for the most irregular of irregular forces. However, believe it or not, the short sleeve shirt he’s fashioning that’s so awkwardly buttoned atop his front plate carrier is actually serving a bona fide purpose that may have been caught by those of you looking through a trained lens. The shirt is intentionally draped over him to cover and conceal [REDACTED] equipment as an operational security measure at the time. The added bonus is the color of the shirt pairs well with his [redacted] eyes.
