“Mi Amigo’s” friend and colleague earned this rare @iwcwatches that can’t simply be bought - it must be earned. Per IWC’s online journal, the 2019 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Top Gun 50th Anniversary” (Ref. IW387813) was commissioned to honor the instructors at the Navy Fighter Weapons School aka TOPGUN. Key distinctive attributes include the NAVY FIGHTER WEAPONS SCHOOL logo at 9 o’clock on the dial and the cleverly-placed TOPGUN INSTRUCTOR along the top of the chrono dial positioned at 6 o’clock. The service member’s name and class are also engraved on the case back (not shown). The pilot that goes by callsign [redacted] is seated here in the cockpit of a F-18 Super Hornet. I can’t confirm nor deny callsign [redacted] participated in the filming of the major motion picture @topgunmovie Maverick. The worthy owner of this remarkable IWC is still on Active Duty today doing great things in unknown places at unknown times for the US Navy!
