The watch

Watches of Espionage calls the Tudor Pelagos 39 near-perfect, and Dr. DTG is not going to argue. So when the Vigilant Torch Foundation put its own name on one, we had to get it in front of the DTG’ers. The Foundation’s inaugural Pelagos 39 is a 2025 Philo Project fundraiser put together with Bucherer USA Corporate Sales in New York, with the Foundation’s own words on the dial and the caseback, and net proceeds from every watch sold go toward full-body MRI scans for cancer and other serious conditions in the Special Operations community. HUMANS > HARDWARE, but every so often the hardware gets to work for the humans.

Now, this one asks for some commitment: a $2,600 deposit up front and the balance due when the watch is ready for fulfillment. On top of the titanium bracelet and rubber strap that come from Tudor, the Foundation went to Erika’s Originals for a rad Philo Project Marine Nationale strap with matching titanium hardware. Dr. DTG’s own Pelagos FXD runs on a custom Erika’s Originals MN strap, so we are stoked about that part. The cause

The Vigilant Torch Foundation

The inaugural Vigilant Torch Pelagos 39 is a 2025 Philo Project fundraiser: net proceeds from every watch sold go toward full-body MRI scans for cancer and other serious conditions in the Special Operations community. The Philo Project is named for a revered member of that community who lost his battle with cancer, and the scans it funds have already identified life-threatening conditions in nearly 1 in 5 participants.

Two of the words on the watch are the Foundation’s own: SEND ME! runs down the front of its brochure, and QUIETLY SERVING comes from its motto, “Quietly serving the most quiet professionals.” ISAIAH 6:8 is the verse that reads “Here am I. Send me!”
